Cricket fans of Chittagong once again proved their love for the game as Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) was greeted with an outstanding attendance in the first two matches on Saturday.

The huge crowd came as an inspiration for the organisers as thousands of cricket lovers poured in at the stands of Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, situated at the port city’s outskirts.

The first match of the day between Khulna Royal Bengals and Sylhet Royals started at 2:00pm.

As the match progressed, the stadium became jam-packed as it awaited the match of between the local team, Chittagong Kings and Duronto Rajshahi.

The fans eagerly waited to see local-boy, Chittagong Kings icon player, Tamim Iqbal in action. However, he was kept out of the playing squad. The weekly holiday also helped the number of attendance.

Colourfully dressed, the fans arrived at the stadium on trucks and other modes of transports. They kept the galleries lively, cheering on with each and every stroke.

However, many fans complained about unavailability of tickets, while students of schools, college and universities urged the organisers to decrease the price of the ticket further, considering their buying capacity.

Chittagong had previously proved its fascination about organising big sports events like, Port City Cricket League (PCL) and the World Cup last year.
